Village Golf Covid-19 Rules and Arrangements

- Updated 20th July 2020 -

Players will be allowed on the course as individuals or in groups of up to four with members from separate households.
Golfers will be required to comply with the 2 metre rules on social distancing at all times both on the course and in the carpark.

Adjustments to the Course Set Up
All rakes, ball washers, benches and bins will be removed, covered or signposted so that players do not touch them.
Flagsticks will be retained but a notice placed on each one stating that it must not be touched.
Obstructions will be placed in the putting hole so that the ball cannot fall below the surface of the putting green and can be retrieved by handling the ball only.

Arrival and waiting to play
It will not be possible to operate a playing time slot system. Golfers will need to adhere to a “first come” queueing system.
Players waiting to start their round must follow social distancing rules and preferably wait in their vehicles until the group ahead have left the first green.
Players bringing guests will not need to sign guests in but can deposit green fees as usual. These fees will be collected and stored in a container for 7 days before being handled by anyone.
Players may not start their round until the group ahead are one clear hole in front of them. When waving faster players through, Golfers must observe the 2 metre rules on social distancing.
Players playing 18 holes will have precedence over a new group starting and should be given the 1 hole safety distance before the new players begin to play.
The toilet will remain closed as there is no practical way of keeping it cleaned to avoid risk of contamination.

During the round
Posters will be displayed on the course reminding players to keep 2 metres apart at tee off areas; on the green; and when walking to or searching for a ball.
From Monday 20th July all bunkers will be back in play. Rakes are still not allowed to be used but Golf England suggest players should smooth sand as best they can with either their club or foot.
Players are to leave any stray balls on the course and must not touch them.
There must be no exchange of scorecards between players so alternative methods of scoring will need to be agreed.
Flagsticks must remain in the hole at all times and must not be touched.
To minimise the need to lift the ball from the hole, a ball can be considered to have been holed if it lies within 12 inches of the hole.
